For the Board of a highly respected $20M Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) seeking to become a Certified Community Behavioral Healthcare Center (CCBHC), we recruited a CEO who had just successfully led another CMHC to national certification (one of the first in the state). Board of Directors approved this hire unanimously.

About the Client: Our client is an innovative nonprofit community mental health center specializing in meeting the unique needs of children and their families. Annually, our client serves over 12,000 children, adolescents and families from 38 Kansas counties. A Trauma Informed Care (TIC) organization, our client is the only CMHC in the country offering a comprehensive Anxiety Treatment Center for youth and adolescents. Our client attracts top notch PhDs from around the country who are seeking real world experience in their internships and residency programs.

About the Position: Having served the organization for 32 years, the last 20 of them as CEO, our client’s current CEO is retiring. To assist the incoming CEO in transitioning, and allow time for a search to be conducted, the outgoing CEO set her last day is February 4th 2022.

About the Opportunity: The successful CEO candidate will assume the helm of a vibrant organization with extremely strong finances and operations, and on a trajectory to become even more innovative. Our client is in the final stages of design work for a new youth crisis and recovery center slated to break ground early in  2022. The organization is on very solid financial footing, and just added substance use disorders to its service line. Led by the COO, the senior leadership team just applied for and received a grant of $4.8 million over two years  from SAMHSA, and are gearing up to apply to the state for Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) certification in 3rd or 4th quarter of 2022.  Our client has a solid executive team with several younger leaders and the resignation of four 30+ year employees over the last two years opens up multiple professional development opportunities for aspiring staff.  With revenues of $17M and net assets near $18M, the prospect of joining this high performing organization is a very attractive and compelling opportunity for the right leader.
