For the Memphis market of a national Community Development Financial Institution, our client sought an an Executive Director, with deep roots in the community. Successful candidate became CEO of the Memphis market. We sought a long time Memphis resident with the respect, relationships and credibility to bridge competing interests, including how best to address ongoing issues around racial equity. Our successful Executive Director hailed from Alabama, but is flourishing in Memphis because his urban community development, advocacy, lending and fundraising experience resulted in sustained success after success. He brought an understanding of the role of mixed use investment and affordable housing stock — without causing gentrification — to spearhead the organization’s leadership in closing the health, wealth and opportunity gap in Memphis.
